Design and facilitation of a major leadership event (60+ attendees)
Design of 1-day Front-End Loading training module for global roll-out of new project delivery process in 2012.

2. BACKGROUND

KECL comprises Ed Thorogood and Ken Carrell, two highly skilled technical upstream professionals with a combined experience of 50 years in major international E & P companies, in all phases of the life-cycle. We have led the maturation of major multi-billion dollar upstream developments.
We have a strong background in enabling Projects, with a wealth of experience in achieving integrated solutions with teams. We are masters in technical facilitation gained over the last 10 years in myriad cultural environments in over 20 countries around the world. Our core strengths include the areas of: development planning, opportunity framing (including many commercial opportunities), integrated risk and uncertainty management, decision-driven workflows, reserves growth and maturation, value chain optimisation, field management, as well as Digital Oil Field of the Future (DOFF).

Our normal modus operandi is to engage with integrated teams by running workshops focusing on integrated decision-making in any phase of the asset lifecycle, in which we can bring our facilitation and broad technical skills into the project. We can also provide training courses to explain the leading edge processes that we have selected and enhanced. Alternatively, we are equally comfortable with reviewing or providing technical insights on the basis of project team documentation or analysis.

We have been highly successful in influencing operators from the non-operating partner perspective and recently worked extensively with several National Oil Companies in the Middle East region.

3. FIELD DEVELOPMENT PLANNING SERVICES
The main aim is to achieve Integrated Front-End Loading in Projects. Specific products include:

Opportunity / Project Framing – We help teams set the objectives, framework and major building blocks of (re)development schemes, via consideration of technical surface / subsurface, economic, commercial and organisational aspects.

Value of Appraisal Planning – We help ensure that appraisal addresses the uncertainties that currently prevent development decision-making. This includes any field trials being contemplated to de-risk new recovery mechanisms.

Risk & Uncertainty Management – We can run integrated risk management workshops and help teams manage uncertainty via the creation of subsurface realisations. We can also provide input for how to reflect risk in concept economic analysis and to ensure that the level of estimation error is taken into account during the process.

Decision-Based Workflows – We help teams generate and implement Decision-based work plans.
Concept Identification / Selection – We help identification of the project scenarios to be evaluated to help in final concept decisions and in the development of project selection criteria.

Technology Screening – We have tools designed to allow screening of the impact of existing and new technologies by considering them as integrated Measure – Model – Decide – Execute capabilities. These have the potential to unlock/ add value to opportunities e.g. by better managing subsurface uncertainty.

Business Environment – We help teams understand which decisions key stakeholders could negatively or positively impact and know whether this should affect project decision-making.

Technical / Economic Review – We are fully conversant with discounted cash flow project economics and can provide review of input parameters to ensure consistency of inputs.

4. FIELD MANAGEMENT PLANNING SERVICES

The main aim is to ensure that the asset that results from the Project phases is properly equipped for Life-Cycle Management of key risks as well as the performance of routine core tasks. Specific products, which are typically integrated into an overall Field Management Plan, include:

Field Management Strategy and KPIs – We help to gain agreement on the high-level Field Management Strategy and associated specific leading KPIs unique to the field which need to be used to optimise asset performance and maintain asset integrity.

Operate the Field on Paper – These sessions look across the whole production / injection system to establish the routine and event triggered workflows required to support quality field decision-making across the short, medium and long term time frames. It is a major support to achieving integration across surface, wells and subsurface disciplines.

Risk & Uncertainty Management – We help look at the long-term integrated life-cycle management of Risk & Uncertainty and thereby ensure that the design is equipped with the ability to manage these issues over the lifecycle of the resulting asset.
